greekmythologyquotes

Starting with the quote, I could agree with what they’re saying, mythology really does kind of tell tales of heroes rising from rags to riches and solving a problem that’s been plaguing them and their people; the “darkness” and “redemption” mentioned. It’s a way to empower us to become those heroes and that we may be rewarded for such heroic actions.  People cling to hope no matter how devastating or bleak the situation is and that hope can take many forms, myth stories for example.

Onto the article, It takes a much more scientific approach to the concept of Mythology saying how these were simply just philosophical inquires on how the world may work or function; that they weren’t particularly factual or precise but were ways that might help us understand how the world may work. To them they were considered allegories which by the article’s definition are stories with symbolic or literal meanings. Though some may come to believe these myths weren’t just made up stories, but may have a real life counterpart as glorified tales of past rulers and celebrities. Take Euhemerus of Messene, a greek scholar who thought as such.
